Alexander Mikulin worked as a designer at the Frunze Moscow Aviation Plant. He was the "father" of the IL-2 airplane engine. The heavy intellectual load and complicated schedule undermined his health: Mikulin suffered two heart attacks and was forced to give up his work in the design bureau. He decided to rehabilitate the body himself, using the resources of his engineering mind and knowledge of engine life. After all, the human body is also a kind of motor that requires proper maintenance!

The result of the former aircraft designer's work on himself was the book "Active Longevity", first published in 1977. In it, Mikulin outlined all his views on healthy lifestyle and suggested several ways of preserving youth. The most widespread is the method of vibrogymnastics, also known as "lymphatic drainage by Mikulin". This is a relatively mild complex of exercises, which has practically no contraindications, and it can be performed without prior preparation.

How to do lymphatic drainage according to Mikulin

It is best to perform the first vibration jumps immediately after waking up, stretching a little, and then do up to five approaches during the day. Here is the sequence of actions suggested by the author himself:

  • Clench your jaws
  • Rise on your toes so that your heels are about a centimeter off the floor, and then lower sharply, striking the floor with your heels. The impact should be equal to that felt when walking
  • Repeat the movement 30 times (with an amplitude of 1 beat per second)
  • Take a 10-second rest.
  • Repeat the cycle

Make sure that the blows do not cause discomfort in the head - moderate the force of the blow if you feel pain or discomfort.

What effect does vibration gymnastics have

According to Alexander Mikulin, health and longevity are ensured by healthy blood vessels and capillaries, as well as strong veins.

Systematic gentle but rhythmic "shaking" not only strengthens the blood transport system, but also prevents lymphostasis, stagnation of fluid in tissues. In addition, there is an opinion that lymphatic drainage according to Mikulin helps with mental fatigue and relieves leg tension when sitting down.
