Some features of menstruation have proven to be disastrous for relationships

Many women do not tell their partners about painful menstruation, and this has a devastating effect on relationships. Metro writes about the impact of certain features of the menstrual cycle with reference to the results of a survey conducted by the British network of clinics Bupa Health Clinics.

This is reported by the Dr. Evin website.

The study found that 79 percent of women complain that painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea) negatively affects their relationships. More than half (63 percent) admitted to fighting with people because of painful menstruation, 59 percent admitted to becoming more abrupt, and 52 percent admitted that their partner annoys them more than usual during this time.

Despite this, 81 percent of women surveyed do not tell their partners, friends and family about their pain, and 14 percent of respondents have fallen into life-threatening depressive states due to dysmenorrhea.

"Many women suffer in silence, carrying this physical and emotional burden alone. That's why it's important to break the taboo around women's health and encourage women to talk about their experiences. If they are suffering from symptoms that affect their life and mental health, they should talk to a doctor and get the help they need," said Petra Simic, director of the clinic network.

Earlier, gynecologist Maria Konakova said that in most cases PMS symptoms are normal, but if they reduce the quality of life, it is necessary to consult a doctor. The gynecologist said that in order to make a diagnosis, patients are usually asked to record symptoms and their intensity on different days of the cycle for two months.
