What women are most attracted to in men: psychologists' opinion

A study by psychologists from the University of Arkansas (USA) has revealed a pattern in women's preferences when choosing a partner. The results of the study, published in the journal Personal Relationships, show that women evaluate different qualities of men depending on their intentions for long-term or short-term relationships.

This is reported by the Dr. Evin website.

Appearance or character

The study included 394 heterosexual women around the age of 19, of whom 251 were single and 143 were in relationships. The purpose of the study was to determine whether appearance or character was more important to women when choosing a partner.

It turns out that women who are set up for a short-term relationship are most attracted to embossed muscles in men. This may be due to an evolutionary instinct to choose a strong and healthy partner for short-term reproduction. On the other hand, women seeking a partner for a long-term mate value goodwill and a sense of humor more. These qualities may indicate a man's ability to be a good partner and father.

Good humor

Interestingly, the study also found differences in women's preferences for types of humor. Aggressive humor, which can insult or humiliate someone, did not attract girls in any case. However, kind and friendly humor was at the top of the list. This may indicate that women are looking for a partner who is able to create a positive and pleasant atmosphere in the relationship.

Overall, the findings confirm that women evaluate the costs and benefits of different sets of traits in potential partners.
